Miniature Designer Chairs in 1:12

This is a long overdue post! My cousin went to an exhibition last year, and bought these for me as a birthday gift, but I was kept busy all the way till now :P Thank you again D!

I'm super sure that those who collect modern miniatures are familiar with these. Although I am not knowledgeable AT ALL about furniture design, this collection has been on the top of my mini-wishlist for ages, because it is very well made and to scale too!

This is how it's packaged.

The big red sofa was a gift from Sans! a few years back, and although not part of the set, it's manufactured by the same company, reacjapan (they have an online store: http://www.designstore-tokyo.com/category-267/mini-chair/)

These have got to be my fave, I think they're by Eames....I actually already have one of the office chairs but it broke after I accidentally crushed it while storing some of my minis T-T So glad I have a spare now HWA HWA HWA

These adorable elephant stools are D's fave! I think they're SQUEEEE!!!!! :P

and more Eames' chairs behind (ey, are they all Eames?! LOL I think they are! HA! *embarrassed*)

so beautiful......the white one reminds me of Zero from Nightmare before Christmas XD

I hope to eventually own all of the mini designer chairs, but for now, I'm super duper happy to have these. If they were huggable I'd hug 'em and pat 'em and squeeze 'em HAW HAW HAW (anyone watch Animaniacs??)

If you were wondering what these have to do with my current 80s project...NOTHING! But I'm sorting out my folders and thought it was about time these came to light :P

Tempted to get a set too? or do you already have multiple sets? :E

Batty over Bones; Eva going Green

i first came across these via Susanna's blog, and fell hard for them....

the largest of the four, the Stegosaurus, is barely as long as my thumb! i don't know what scale this is, but i didn't care. i bought them as kits, and made some signs to go with it...it was meant as a gift for my bf, in celebration of....actually i don't know. a whimsical purchase? XD anyway, i finally finally had time to complete it! i know the signages could have been better made, but i really wanted to cheer up bf with it, and i knew he wouldn't even notice if i made them any nicer anyway XD

you can find the kits at the following links. they're from the same seller, just different venues.

========================================

so....this little mischief started turning green, no it's not cos i haven't washed her (she got her shower on Monday!)...more due to the new floss/chew toy i got her ewwwww

see the culprit? and eww even her paws turned green but it's not so obvious in this pic i guess.

i'm alot better now, recovering from a nasty bout of gastric flu. tum's still wonky, but at least i'm no longer shuffling in and out of the toilet :every hour or so. also, brother passed me the data cable, i'm getting all the pics out of the handphone now!!!! woot woot! and even better yet, i got some exciting news from my cousin, but i can only share that much later....ahhhh!!!! i'm excited i'm excited, could you tell?

man my posts on this blog are so mood-swingy. GET A GRIP, CINDY! XD

next post will probably be a mish-mesh of the size/scale thing, and some pics off my handphone. i'm still trying to sort stuff out, i'm feeling extremely overwhelmed! over NOTHING! HA!

my latest toy

today was a fun day :) bf got me this, after months of listening to me whine about the pain in my hands. for those who don't know, i've been  having awful RSI painsin my right hand from my days of overplaying Diablo II. i can no longer use a regular mouse without wincing in pain, and have been using a tablet for almost a year, but that one is fast dying. so bf got me this pen & touch wacom tablet!
ugh. i'm camera challenged, so taking a clear pic of this black beauty is....best left for another day. it's really fun to use, you can probably go looksee at the website for more details:

http://www.wacom-asia.com/bamboo/

so there're no new pics of mini works for this post, due to a few reasons, namely:

1) competition photos, the mini food blog  is celebrating its birthday soon! Sumaiya is holding a contest, and i participated for fun :D i loooove taking part in competitions cos i'm extremely goal-oriented, without one i simply flit around accomplishing absolutely nothing -_-"

2) hand hurts. alot. hurts so much even though i apply ointments every night. that and the pasta machine is breaking down, so i'm slowing down on my requests and personal projects :( sadness.

3) AFK. cousin's having her hols, so we've been spending some time on fridays, out and about town with her mom. fun fun fun!

4) more competition stuff. there's another one being held by the semi-sweeties group over on dA, i don't actually have anything done for that yet, but i hope to participate, for fun and for that paid subscription prize :O

5) personal stuff. am contemplating some changes in my life, it might or might not mean i'll be stopping minis altogether. i certainly hope i don't have to. but i might have to take a long break from minis again. sheesh. i really really don't want to T_T but life does have a way of interrupting the fun bits grrrrrrrrr

i'm going to finish up the 2 ongoing requests i have, and keep the mini-making to other long-promised requests (ha ha). i think i might have to stop picking up commissions until i get stuff sorted out, but knowing me, i'll get into some crazy mini rush until i can't anymore. i guess i'll enjoy it while it lasts. sorry i'm being so vague, the prospect of not doing minis anymore is kinda putting me into a funk.

oh, and those darned caramel & caramelized almond macarons from bakerzin are ...totally evil. 4 macarons are sitting in my fridge now, they will keep me happy for the rest of the week, i hope XD XD XD

1:4 choc chip cookies, chocolates, and some loot!

1:4 scale choc chip cookies. commissioned items.

1:4 scale chocolates. part of the same commish.

same breads but taken in better lighting. i haven't yet painted the other batch. real life keeps butting in, i'll try and complete them tomorrow. having a bit of problems figuring out what colours to use though. the breads in Singapore (the ones most commonly seen) tend to be more ochre-ish than brown. wonder why. i think it might have something to do with it looking prettier? or just coincidental due to type of flour used?

re-printed the striped liners, and made them in various shades.

and then, i practiced tying little bows out of teeny ribbons! width of this ribbon is 3mm wide. the bow itself is barely 1cm wide.

===============
boring personal entry below, you can skip it XD

ran to a few places today after a nice afternoon out with my aunt. we went to a food fair, but there wasn't really much special there, so we wound up having lunch at a japanese restaurant.

headed over to Funan (an IT mall in SG) but couldn't find what i wanted, and got trapped in a stationary store. XD i really love stickers, have loved them since i was a kid. the papers are for....what else, cupcake liners. they're thinner than what i'm currently using, so i don't know if my customers would be able to handle the flimsiness, but oh~~~ 50 COLOURS!!!! XD

and lots of ribbons too. approx 1.5-3mm wide...i taught myself how to tie bows, with minimal wastage! i guess if you wanna learn how to you've gotta check out some youtube vids or summat, it's kinda complicated and you need like, 4 arms. OK I JEST but yea it's really fiddly working at such small scales.

and the microbeads are FINALLY HERE OMG T_T i waited SOOOOO long for these! finally i can make the cookies i've been holding back on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

k. got stuff to do. and it's late. and i'm exhausted.

nitenite :D

An unexpected date and trade!

today's loot

sooo, today i unexpectedly traded for some items. i'd picked up my parcel from the post office, i'd previously purchased some items from HeyYoYo, and they're SOOO CUTE! well packaged too ^ ^ Thanks Amanda!

you can see the reserved listing in order to identify which items i got, and how much i paid for 'em here:

http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=23980937

she's really friendly, and came highly recommended by Asuka!

the flowers you see are from Sans of The Dollhouse Diaries, part of a secret giveaway! woohoo~! there are a few more varieties, but i rushed to take pics so... :X see, comment spamming -sometimes- pays off. HA!

the flower pots and disposable 'styrafoam' lunchboxes are from Madam Ang *secret smile* i won't tell you what i paid for 'em ;) BWA HA HA *winks at Asuka*

the container i used for the shelf, and the acrylic little perch i have the 1:12 items on are from Muji. i simply couldn't resist! i have so many plans for them!

anyhow, i made this impromptu trip down to town because i hurt my hand this morning whilst working the frosting for the commission :( i got a blister on my middle finger (not from flipping anyone the birdie, i'm a nice girl. HAHHAHAHA don't choke), and my old thumb injury acted up again, each time i try to use it a jolt of pain shoots up my hand. and i was sooo moody and in so much pain, when i saw Asuka online, i invited her to join me on an impromptu shopping trip so that i wouldn't hurt myself further. i have a tendency when i work to not realise when i'm hurt, and aggravate my injury whilst i cater to my compulsions. taking myself away from the work environment usually helps.

well. mid-trip, i realised the reason for my moodiness :X LOL. ANYWAY.

sorry if i'm not really replying comments and stuff, i'm quickly realising i'm all over the place, in my head, and on the net. spreading myself a little too thin (and there's loads to go around har har), so to speak. i guess what's most important is to sort out the requests, fulfill the orders, and...STOP CHATTING ONLINE! aughghghghghg

that'll start tomorrow. g'nite :D

(oh and the colourful pillbox is just for Asuka's reference, i used it to contain my beads from aeons ago)

I've got Mail!

I received my parcel from Asuka last week, but the weather was unco-operative, which meant my picture taking would be crappy, and my table was sooooo messy i put off taking pics cos i wanted to do her work justice! look at that gruesome eyeball drink! it would be perfect with my brain platter, i only realized it after i put away the lightbox LOL!

Thank you Asuka! they're soooo cute! XDand then.....i got my other package from Mariella! she had requested for a swap since these items were larger scaled than what she's used to, well, they're mostly 1:6 or 1:4, but still! i hope to be able to use them soon....will update on that....

i was particularly excited about this set, as i was agonizing over how to display my 1:4 scale items...the 'uneaten' eclair is definitely too large for this plate, but the rest of the items seem to fit perfectly! WOOHOO!
and look at what she included LOL 40 reasons why little dolls are better than BIG ones! i agree with ALL of them! i think she's covered all the bases though, i can't think of any more > <> < ok so here's the lightbox i bashed together to take these photos. i originally made it with A4 paper covering the sides, but that didn't allow enough light through (i have a crappy ikea light that broke while taking the previous batch of pics), so i replaced it with some plastic sheets that i got from Daiso...and then covered the flaps with aluminum foil in case i needed more light reflected onto the objects..TADAH! not bad, huh!

oh, and those postcards were purchased when Asuka exhibited at STGCC :D i love love LOVE them! and they're autographed too ;) MWA HA HA

THANK YOU MARIELLA AND ASUKA!

well, also, here's an update on what i've been up to. i experimented somemore today, and spent a full hour conditioning clay -_-" Dango. the pink is supposed to be at the tip, and white in the middle. also, the skewer is too short :(

> <"| ah well! at least i don't need to gloss it further, KATO bakes to a nice sheen! i also experimented with new macaron shapes, but i messed up on the colour as i had used scrap clay. i quite like the new shapes, will try with a lighter colour tomorrow :)

i tried listing new items on my etsy shop, but it kept messing up when i tried uploading pics. i got so frustrated i gave up. well, at least the new cupcake cases are up for sale now, here's a sneak preview of what's new!

the cases now come with more frills! woo hoo! i originally wanted to keep them to 12 to 'fit' the cupcakes i made previously, but i wanted to test the limit....so far 16 is the furthest i can go for the neatest, most consistent results :(

and for those who are keen on attempting to make these yourself, here's a link to a tutorial....

http://www7b.biglobe.ne.jp/~yoyostudio_/houtomake.html

go to the 5th link from bottom...it's in Japanese but the pics are enough for you to figure it out :D

i don't make them this way, but i think this is the best i've seen so far! as to how i make mine...well....it's a secret ;) let's just say, it takes a LOOOONG time to make them, and i had to make my own tools :( so forgive me if i'd like to keep this one to myself for now ;)

UPDATE: I NO LONGER CAN SELL THE LINERS DUE TO A RECURRING INJURY IN MY WRISTS :(
