It's all coming together! AND, this is the 401st post on this blog :O AAAND, tomorrow will be the eve of Chinese New Year, am looking forward to the reunion dinner steamboat with everyone ^ ^

Minus all the Instagram makeover XD

This is probably going to be the final position of the shelf, though it's quite undecided at this point. Might not even glue it down.....hrmm. gah.

A look at all the packaged biccies.  I get asked alot how I do this, well, my usual response is, please refer to my FAQ :X

Dollhouse Miniature Biscuits 1:12 - part 3

1:12 dollhouse miniature pineapple jam and chocolate sandwich biscuits, air dry clay

the pineapple jam could be a little darker, but it looks pretty like this....am a little torn about it haha! maybe a different batch in the future.....sigh.

1:12 scale dollhouse miniature sugar crackers and butter coconut biscuits, air dry clay

and then there's the sugar coated crackers, which IIRC are my cousin's fave ^_^ the ones on the right are supposed to be butter coconut biscuits. Might have gone a little overboard with the sugar...hiaks.

Here's progress this far. I have 3 more biscuits in mind, but they're the hardest to sculpt so I think it's time to take a break and start packaging these. :)

wonder how many biscuits there are here...almost 800 maybe? do sandwich biscuits count as 2? :P

Dollhouse Miniature Biscuits 1:12 - part 2

1:12 scale miniature sugar gem biscuits (again!), air dry clay

Compare and contrast!

2009 versions, polymer clay
These sugar gem biscuits are still pretty popular these days :) Back in April 2009 (!) I attempted to reproduce them in mini using polymer clay. Since they weren't strictly 1:12 back then, I never did quite let it go, and seeing as how it would fit great in my latest 80's Singapore project, here they are again!

1:12 miniature cream crackers, air dry clay
Classic cream crackers. As usual, I tried to print the tiny letters onto the crackers...they're supposed to read "cream khong guan crackers" but .....the detail didn't come out so well :( will try again another time, kinda running low on time and I still have loads more to do......have to keep reminding myself that they're going into the tins and nobody's going to care anyway.....*heart pain~~~*

Also, I tried to edit a video but the stupid movie maker exports my video into a gibberish mess (audio is still intact though). I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and after wasting 3 hours on it, I GIVE UP.

at least, until it bugs me enough again. GRARRGHHGHGHHHHHHH STAY FOCUSSED CINDY

Dollhouse Miniature Biscuits 1:12 - part 1

1:12 miniature Khong Guan biscuits, air dry clay

Click for a larger image. It's not very evident here, but I did attempt to put the actual words on these sandwich biscuits.....as humanly possible as I could without a magnifier, had to take my glasses off for this task! *squints*

Also, a more detailed photo of the door handle.....

80s Singapore Stall, Folding Door and Lighting

More progress on my 80s Singapore project. This is something of a personal challenge, and to  be part of my portfolio. All that mucking about with small bits and bobs over the past few years was practice, and although it's the first time I'm trying out something less-than-'perfect', it shows I have come a long way from having to have everything in a set number of items, or finicky about the too-tiny-to-notice details (BUT IN MY HEART I KNOWWWWW). OCD much? NAWWWWWWW NOWAY

*snort* ok. so the folding door has been installed. I thought it looks abit like a toilet, what with the tiles and colour scheme, but these are what I remembered the stalls were like as a young kid. Not everything is measured to scale, this is not a scale model but a re-imagining of what a 8-12 year old's memory can retain. In all honesty, there's not that much I recall other than having to endure hours of waiting while my mother did the week's marketing. Bleary eyed at 6-8 in the morning every Sat/Sun meant I didn't have much to look forward to as my mom parked my brother and I in front of the soya bean stall (no, this mini is not a drinks store ;) ) to have our breakfast, and that also meant I had to keep an eye on him for those couple of hours. UNENDURABLE.

but it also contains the best part of my childhood memories. which I hope to encapsulate in 6 x 6 x 8 inches :)

Also did a generic lighting to show off the details which will be added later. I want to add a pendant light, am deciding on the lamp shade and it's...bleargh. feeling uninspired at the moment.

worked on making these biscuit tins as well. :) I guess by now you can sorta figure out what the stall will be selling? As for the cylinder, a few people have managed to guess what it will be for. It is (was?) a common sight in this region, Singapore and Malaysia as I've personally observed. Can you guess what it will become? :D

These were made out of aluminum sheets, cut out from those disposable aluminum trays/pie tins which are used at potlucks etc. I'm not sure about the thickness, it's super thin and I had previously mentioned using it to make clay cutters. Just be careful if you decide to fiddle with it okay??? It's a little delicate but since it's going to be affixed within the roombox, I'm not too concerned with the sturdiness.

As you've probably noticed already, I've put up some videos onto my youtube page. Remember to subscribe and share if you like my work! :P

Miniature folding door

2014 happened so soon :O and in a couple of weeks it will be Chinese New Year! This is what I've managed so far, 1:12 wise. I'm blogging via the android blogger app for the first time, and it seems a little....difficult to adjust the photo layouts, but let's see how it goes.

The hinges were made with 0.3mm thick aluminum sheets and stainless steel pins. They were the most time consuming, and the doors out of styrene sheets of varying thicknesses. There are at least 4 layers of acrylic paints in 3 different shades of blue, I wanted it to look used but not decrepit.

I might re-do the door handle, forgot to add the keyhole until after I put it in place, durr. *smacks forehead*

Also, probably did this bass ackwards again, door before the structure, but my lights hadn't arrived yet and this door is an important feature,  so I got impatient hurhurhur.

Can you guess what this will be part of? ;)
