Getting into the mood for luuuurrrrvee....

I am feeling uncharacteristically romantic *shudder* this year. i blame the bf! he has been really, quite wonderful, and i know i don't tell him enough. *blush* but it's ok! i can say it here cos i know he doesn't read this blog unless i force him to HAHA :X

really tiny box. about 1.5cm or 9/16" across. each choc piece is about 3mm or 1/8" wide.

knitted bunnies

made this wee one using a free pattern by http://littlecottonrabbits.typepad.co.uk/ it is about 3.5cm from toe to tip of ear

against an older one i made a long time ago

there is a contest being held by the #semi-sweeties group again! i am definitely participating, working on it helps me keep my mind off some stuff happening around me from driving me batshit apecrazy. join me in driving out all the craziness in our lives by obsessively focussing on miniatures ;)

details on the competition here: http://semi-sweeties.deviantart.com/blog/37527014/

there's more than one and a half months to work on it, THIS TIME I REMEMBERED TO SHARE EARLY ZOMGZORZ (<(_ _)> sorry, i always get news too late or forget to update here)! if you need, i found a few lovely tutorials over on http://miniatures.about.com/, more specificially, picnic baskets and paper plates!!!! so now you have less of an excuse NOT to participate! ;) i am almost done with my basket, took -only- 2 days to do it -_-" man i really have concentration issues..........

1:12 gerberas

i am not a huge fan of flowers. but if pressed for my favourite one...i would say, either lilies or gerberas. and i found a cute little paper puncher yesterday (Carlacraft, at art friends, CP-1 Daisy-S) so i decided to make some ^ ^

i first saw some in 1:12 when i visited Peili's blog a while back....and immediately knew i wanted to attempt some! i think hers are made out of air dry clay, but i knew at my skill level there's no way possible i could do it, so i took an easier route via paper. i didn't know how to make the centres, and so i fudged about and here's a point by point of how i made these semi-passable gerberas XD jotting notes more for myself than as a guide :X my memory's getting really bad lately........:(

- punched out 3mm (i think i'll try smaller next time) cardstock circles using a Daiso hole punch
- glued floral wire (smallest gauge i could find at Popular book store, donno the measurements it didn't state) to circles with tacky glue
- finely cut up some dark maroon wool that i had from my knitting stash to create some flocking
- applied glue onto the cardstock, dipped into flocking being careful not to inhale
- sneezed, turning head in time to save the flocking from flying all over the place
- punched coloured paper petals out with my new puncher, i used 80gsm A4 paper
- attempted to score lines into the paper but i think the effect was lost :( clay would probably hold the detail better(?)
- shaped and divided the petals into 2 so i get thinner petals, using manicure scissors
- glued on the petals individually
- cut out a star shaped thingy for the green part thingy (wuh, lost my "I'm a Botanist!" badge a looong time ago) and stuck the wire into the centre, pushing up and gluing the base onto the flower, thus completing it

as you can see here, the thinner 'tissue' (the stuff you use to wrap up gifts) didn't work so well....so i decided they would be perfect as wilted gerberas :P these are nowhere as good as i'd like, but honestly, i do not like flowers all that much so....they'll do for now! HA!

for the mini365 project. :)

SKIP NEXT PORTION IF YOU AREN'T INTO DEPRESSING STUFF (wtf right?)

==================================================
on a personal note, i've been feeling less than lackluster the past few months, and a recent annual checkup has given hints as to why :( it's nothing serious, or at least i keep telling myself that, and i've a scan scheduled in march...so it -can't- be all that serious (right? RIGHT????). being so sickly most of my life has made me somewhat of a hypochondriac, so i suppose this news is nothing surprising. it's making me quite upset and what with some other more serious stuff going on around me with my friends and family, i've sort of (and this is hard to admit) 'given up' on making anything. some days, i can barely pull myself together to get out of bed. i don't even know who to talk to, i don't know if i really want to be reminded anyway....just feel as if life keeps sucker punching me. i suppose i should be glad that there's an explanation as to why i've been feeling so sick and flat out fatigued (not just a product of my 'emo' mind). now for the docs to figure out how to fix it.

*deep breath*

typing it out does help, and i don't want to give up, i just am feeling quite...stuck. i have lots of mini ideas going on in my head, my body just doesn't seem to want to co-operate. i have a number of incomplete projects on my table. a quick glance throws up:

- all parts of 3 mini teddy bears/bunnies knitted up but unstuffed and unassembled
- various 1:12 st honore bases waiting for piped cream
- made new cookie molds but haven't yet tested them out
- ditto on chocolate molds
- about 3 untacked/incomplete crocheted (life sized) doilies tossed about, i haven't even sewn in the ends
- chocs for v-day meant for my etsy sitting waiting to be packaged

that's just from what i can SEE and not already packed away waiting to be listed. i just really, really don't have it in me at the moment.

sorry for the debbie downer entry. but see, i warned ya.....:P

Starting 2011

huhuhu!! i got some lovely gifts over the holidays!! they were quite a surprise as i don't celebrate christmas, but i definitely appreciate the sentiment and i adore them greatly ^ ^

firstly, see the colourful background???it is a wonderful tokidoki calendar from DALE!!!  i'm not sure how she knew, but maybe it's quite evident that i adore cutesy kawaii stuff, i just never could justify splurging on tokidoki items as over here in SG it's more than 'quite expensive' (to me anyway), so it's really quite a treat!! i originally planned on hanging it up on the side of my desk/shelving unit, but i've found another way of using it :E woohoo!!!

next was from Rosanna who put together a christmassy package of a cookie 'snowman' soft toy, which bf remarked immediately, "i thought that was a bun." (he must have been hungry) , a set of 3 differently sized cookie cutter sets (SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!), a little chef figurine (seated next to Yotsuba) and a chocolate star :D at least i hope it's chocolate, i didn't see a wick so it could not be a candle, right? *furrows brows*

and the biggest surprise, a Reac chair from Sans! :O i'm so tickled and overjoyed by it because just the day before i received it, i had been planning on making some mini gummy kisses, you know the kind? and i was even puckering my lips, trying to imagine how to make them.... anyway i couldn't help but giggle when holding it in my hands, not only do i have a designer chair (SNORT!!), Yotsuba had better keep her crayons off it!! XD just re-living opening that box is making my insides squeal and chuckle a bit......i think i rikes the kitsch :P

and then! i also had these arrive from Eve! she had wanted to do a swap and as always when a swap is requested, i would ask for supplies...i already own a beautiful  prep board that i won previously on one of her blog giveaways, so i didn't ask for some of her works :D i do hope her parcel arrives soon, there have been delays due to the weather and holiday load :(

and, on starting 2011 with something new....

i had been invited to participate in a mini 365 project, over on flickr...the goal is to take a photograph of miniatures for each day of the year. now, this is to me a rather monumental project as i'm rather commitment-shy (almost phobic) but hey, i'll give it a go :) i have LOADS of Re-ment and assorted other miniatures (sylvanian, gashapon toys, random cellphone straps etc) that would appreciate a little dusting off after sitting in their storage boxes these past few years. and true to form, i mis-remembered the date and posted tomorrow's pic today (i'd prepared a weeks' worth of pics). note the background?!???! TEE HEE HEE!!!! yep, it's the tokidoki calendar! ^ ^

anyway, i also realized it's the day after Asuka's birthday, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY ASUKA!!!
